Tips For Success In Interviews

Once you have written a CV and subscribed to a few professional employment agencies, with a bit of luck, you will be offered job interviews which are interesting to you. The recruitment agency will send you details on the vacancy on offer and might also offer tips on how to prepare for the interview.

Before you attend the interview, check out these great tips for success:-

1. Be confident and assured without being conceited.

2. Sit still and don't slouch.

3. Have ready a few questions to ask at the end of the interview. If these prepared questions have been answered already during the interview then tell them so and then thank them. If you cannot think of any questions to ask at the end, ask the employment agency, they can usually help.

4. Don't talk badly of past or current employers or colleagues, it will show you in a bad light.

5. Try to relax - it may not be easy, but it does help

6. Get a friend to give you a test interview. A good number recruitment agencies offer this service.

7. Even if allowed, don't smoke in the interview.

8. Find out as much as you can on the organisation you hope to work for and about what the job entails. This will enable you to prepare for any questions they may have and to have some pre-prepared questions of your own at the end of the interview. Make sure that you read any information that the recruitment agency has given you.

9. Be polite.

10. Turn your mobile phone off, or better still, leave it at home..

11. Don't misrepresent the dieters history of employment or qualifications in the interview or to your employment agency, for that matter. You do not want a job that is beyond your capabilities.

12. Don't be afraid to sell yourself, but focus on the benefits that the employer will get from employing you, try to avoid just detailing those things you are good at. What can you bring to the table?

13. Try to look happy and positive

14. Speak clearly and with confidence. Don't mumble and and give your answers at a normal speed.

15. Ensure that you know where your job interview will take place, how you will get there and know how long it will take you to get there. The agency will give you the details. When calcluating your departure time, add half an hour at least to allow for traffic congestion or other problems outside your control - you don't want to be late.

16. Wear clothes appropriate to the interview and make sure that you are 'well turned out'. Recruitment agencies will often advise you if any dress restictions apply.

17. Don't consult notes during the interview or answer questions 'parrot fashion', be natural.

If you are succesful in adopting all these helpful tips, you should have a much greater likelihood of being offered that great post and establishing a outstanding and enjoyable career.

Remember that employment agencies can help you with much more than just finding a suitable vacancy. Employment agencies can help you draft your CV, help with applications and help you skill-up for interviews. Don't be afraid to ask them for help at any step in the process.
